Yeah, I agree, its been that way for a long time. You go into debt because people not only want but expect a gift.

no! let's not forget that without Christ, there would be no Christ-mas! it is to celebrate the birth of our Savior..the gift giving has gotten way carried away with over the years. the three wise men brought very simple gifts for baby Jesus. they wanted to do something to honor his birth, and today, society has made a mockery out of Christmas..well, here is one person who still believes that Christmas is a day of love, of giving, and most of all of appreciation, to GOD, for sending Jesus.

I'm more interested to see Christmas returned to the more accurate, considerably more natural, celebration of the Winter Solstice. It transcends religions, simply because it is a fact of nature that the longest night of the year falls on that night. Heck, maybe we're better calling December 25th, "Light-mas!"

Absolutely NOT! Your comment that "Nobody celebrates Jesus and this is his birthday" is the reason it should remain as is.

Because it IS the day we celebrate His birth. Many seem to have lost sight of that and need to be reminded of it.

Rather than receiving gifts, we should give of ourselves. That is the greatest gift we can give especially as He gave His life for us.

ABSOL-FRICKEN-LUTLY!

Then maybe the wickens will be able to stop telling everyone that Christmas is really a "pagan" festival, as if they had a clue about what they were talking about, or as if anyone, Christian or not cared.

Then maybe the Evangelcal nut-jobs could give up on their "war on christmas" and peacefully let people of other faiths not celibrate christmas if that is their wish...

Then maybe those who actually want to celibrate the birth of Christ could do it without being made to feel like wet blankets...

Then maybe those who just want to buy singing fish for their friends can do THAT without being made to endure a guilt trip from ... well everyone else.

Then maybe little jewish kids can finally get their bloody tree and not feel like such outcasts from society...

Then maybe bosses who want to get thier interns drunk and fax pictures of their backsides to india can do it without having to wait untill December.

Sounds like a win-win-win-win-win solution to me.

That might be your experience with Christmas and Mine is similar but, the fact remains that some people some where do still celebrate Christmas Jesus style.

The point is; do you want to remember the birth of Jesus? If so leave it as Christ - Mass; celebrate the birth of our Lord. If you worship the golden cow ( buy this, buy that, must have gifts etc) then do your own thing with the rest of the lost ones. Jesus is Lord.

By your reasoning, the name christmas is the only religious connection to this day. We should remember WHY we are all getting drunk, because Jesus gave us all the day off :-)

you would think so due to the fact that everyone gives gifts even if they can not afford it, no the name should not change we do try to keep the word Christ in Christmas. We may forget why the reason of the season is, due to all the commotion in the malls etc.

No- My family still celebrates the TRUE meaning of CHIRTmas, and i'm POSITIVE there are other family's World wide who do the same. Just because you and your 'buddies' get drunk on Christmas doesn't mean that you should go changing the name.

Might as well, since their really no connect to Christianity, that's why people who are not the slightest bit religious celebrate it.
