Well you have multiple options. If your friend already has a bitcoin wallet, you can sign up for coinbase, buy some bitcoins, then transfer it to his/her wallet address.

you can go to the ups post office and get a shipping box there or you can also go to the store and buy one those safer guard big yellowlish air mail package that sent in regular mail but it better to sent it to the post office because will sent next day in the morning. make sure you write the address with his or her names bigger letters and place tape over the pen or marker writting because that in case the mail deliever can read it better and clear and cant erased when it sent out .

wait....the finance guys i know see bitcoin will fail ,it will drop...why?...because people are investing it,but nobody is realy useing them,so what will happen is people are hording them,causeing them to become negative due to nobody using the coin...wait prices going top drop in 2018...when that happens then buy,people will sell,then start using them and prices will rise again

Tell him to download the core wallet and then wait patiently for several months for all the blockchain data to download. Then, when that's finished, use your own core wallet to transfer your fraction of a coin to his address. It'll take an additional 1.5 hours for enough confirmations for him to spend it. Hopefully by then the value of the coin will be more than a penny since the big banks are set to short the crap out of bitcoin tonight per the futures market in Chicago. If it's not "rip" by tomorrow (11-Dec), I'd be _really_ surprised.
