We are now entering the X-mas season. Today I was at Subway and they had the X-mas music station on. 75% of the songs were very depressing. Does anyone else think that these songs can be depressing? if so which songs depress u the most?

They can be, just depends on what kind of mood I'm in. You should listen to the song "Dead Dead Dead", which believe it or not, is a Christmas song. Nice and depressing for you.

Christmas and New Years are the two MOST depressing holidays. Christmas is fun only three times in life. 1 - When you were a kid and believed. 2 - when you had kids and they believed and last 3 - when you have grand kids ( or relatives with kids ) I've been through 1 and 2 and cant wait for 3. As it it is now Christmas music makes me yearn for years ago when it was more magical than a gratuitous exchange of meaningless gifts. Frosty the Snowman has to be the worse. He's alive has fun then dies. I believe this song was written to represent the meaning of Christmas ( not the religious but the Santa part ) where it's magical and fun while Frosty is alive but as the weather gets warmer ( we get older ) the magic is gone, we know there is no Santa so the spirit of the holiday dies. But the true number ONE, top of the list, suicide promoting song is Auld Lang Syne.

I think its you because I never thought of them as depressing. They might be depressing if you enjoyed Christmas with A relative or friend that passed away and your thinking about them.My favorite is The Christmas song by Nat King Cole.

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire

Jack Frost nipping at your nose

Yuletide carols being sung by a choir

And folks dressed up like eskimos

Everybody knows some tofu and some mistletoe

Help to make the season bright

Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow

Will find it hard to sleep tonight

They know that Santa's on his way

He's loaded lots of toys

And goodies on his sleigh

And every mother's child is gonna spy

To see if reindeer really know how to fly

And so, I'm offering this simple phrase

To kids from one to ninety-two

Although its been said

Many times, many ways

Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas to.. You!

I suppose that christmas songs can be depressing for people that have no real christmas to look forward to.

I dont think that christmas songs are depressing but, I feel that sometimes they can get on your nerves a bit, especially when the stores keep on playing the same old songs for hours and hours and hours!!!

For the most part, Christmas songs just make me all warm and fuzzy inside even if they are not entirely feel good, happy-go-lucky songs.

I actually think Carol of the Bells (Ukrainian Bells) is pretty depressing. I don't recall the words to the song. I don't think it's meant to be depressing, but the tune is a bit haunting. I still think it's good, though.

In general, songs that talk about not being able to come home for Christmas or something to the effect of being lonely on Christmas are depressing.

The only one that I find depressing is Christmas Shoes. That should have never been released as a Christmas song.

The others are either peaceful or fun.

I find Christmas songs depressing only if I'm in a bad mood and I know it's supposed to be a happy time at Christmas and the singer sound so happy and are telling me it's the happiest time of the year and I'm not happy, then that makes me depressed.

'I'll Be Home For Christmas' and 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas'.

Because I'm NEVER home for Christmas (I live too far away now) and it's never merry coz the country I now live in doesn't celebrate it really..only one or two shops. There is no 'Xmas Spirit' at all and even though I try to recreate it at home, the 30deg C heat kinda takes the nostalgia out of it...especially when cooking only for myself coz my hubby and daughter won't eat anything I cook...not turkey, not the veggies or sauces...I mean...what's the point? So I'll settle for a cold turkey slice sandwich on Christmas day and pine away for the golden olden days and weep when I hear, especially those two, carols (when sung slowly and reverently).

Blue Christmas is depressing for me, but can't think of any others. The holidays are depressing for a lot of people. It makes us remember our loved ones who have passed.

The only holiday song I can think of that depresses me is that John Lennon tune "And so this is Christmas..." I change the station when it comes on.

Overall, I love Christmas music.

I am agnostic, irreverent, and no longer attend church. I do like Christmas music, though, almost all of it, although I tend to think that it can be overly pervasive during the Season. I don't find it depressing at all. I've been wondering why you do.
