i go for the more traditional one's for the 'oldies' and cute & funny for the youngsters - and yes they can be pricey but there are lots of deals to be had too!

In my opinion if the mother wanted to parent she will decide to do without pictures regardless. If a woman gives up her child and changes her mind due to the fact the child turned out pretty, then she is quite the low-life and does not deserve a child. But only your friend can make this decision because none of us can even guess what kind of woman the birth mother is. The worst thing right now would be for this woman to decide to parent and this poor child be snatched from the arms of 2 mothers. Every issue she had from her mother placing her would only be doubled by returning her after so long. In my opinion there is no reason why she needs to send a card now with pictures, what about sending a card and pictures in the spring. I would guess by sending pictures now your friend would only spend the next month in a complete stress ball and the child is going to pick up on it. I would either send a card now and pics in the spring or just wait till spring and send a letter. I am also well aware that my opinion is not going to be taken well by a "few" here but this is not about the birthmom's rights but what is best for the child in question..

I buy cute/jokey ones and I paid £2.99 for the pack I bought of 20. I only give Christmas cards to people I won't be seeing over Christmas so I don't need to send many. I buy personal one's for my close family.

I never buy them, I always make my own... I like to make them classy though, never tacky, and usually never jokey, unless it is an inside joke ;)

Lol! Way harsh! I think the ones I make end up costing more than the bought ones actually... I go crazy at christmas... Are you at home atm? Will you be on msn in like half and hour/an hour? I have to eat dinner but then i will be back on.... I promise not to run away this time ;)

I bought bright, modern looking ones in the summer when the card shop had a big sale on, only 49p a pack! I buy separate ones for close family and that ends up costing me a fortune.

I had some left over from last year, so I sent those.

I send a combination of traditional and cute ones. I have made cards before though.

Chef,

I love the funny ones, but I love great art, so those tempt me, too. Last year I bought one of the Reindeer on a roof, next to the chimney -which was on fire. Rudolf was saying, "I have a bad feeling about this one!."

I also love to make my cards on metallic paper. One of my art teachers (I'm a fine artist) has one of her paintings lithographed onto a card each year. It becomes both her card, and her gift. I'm going to do that next year, myself.

I didn't buy any this year. I had cards left over from last year and used them. Some years I do send jokey cards and other years just traditional ones.

For some people, I get traditional cards, but for others, I get funny cards. It really depends on the person!

I buy the ones that say actually say "Christmas" on them rather than politically correct ones that say "Happy Holidays" and show a wintry scene. They are CHRISTMAS cards. Why do they have to satisfy the ACLU - they are for people who celebrate CHRISTMAS.

I pay less than a pound for my special cards. I buy a mixture of cute and trad. Depending on who they are for.

Money is not a problem but in order to save our Earth, I prefer e-cards.

Cute ones are for friends, sexy one is for lover.

It depends on who I am sending it too. I send all types of cards love sending them. To me it doesn't matter what they cost. They are worth it. Love, honey
