You could always tell a classic Christmas story from a different character's point of view. For example what does Mrs. Claus do while Santa Claus is away giving out gifts to the children. She could have an adventure of her own. Be creative. Your teacher gave you a lot of freedom so use it.

Be creative!
-What is your favorite part of Christmas? Christmas lights, nutcrackers, hot cocoa, candy canes, Santa Claus, chimneys, snowmen, snow, reindeer...think of a main focus point.
-If I were to write a Christmas story, I would focus it on nutcrackers, as I love them. Think about what could happen. I would probably make the nutcracker turn to life and go on an adventure.
-Think of different storylines for what you want to write about and what you want the outcome to be.
Good luck and happy holidays!
