My church every year does a bulk load of Shoe Boxes every year for OCC and the way the economy is trying to get a lot of stuff for these boxes is hard and I just was wondering if anyone knows where or how I can or write about donations. Ideas would be great thank you

The best way to get donations is face to face.

If you can get local merchants to help promote your cause it will increase your collections immensely.

For instance if your area banks or credit unions will permit you to place a collection barrel at or near their entrances and along with that you do advertising and place posters you should be able to incite donors interest.

Always make it clear what your cause is.

Don't forget to get area churches, boy scouts, girl scouts, FFA or 4H's involved. The more involvement you get, the better your returns will be.

Good Luck to you!

First off, Im guessing you want new toys for the box. Heres an idea on how to make money for it. A lot of your members are probably fine with used toys and even find this better for the environment. I would be. What you could do is prior to Christmas, even November, do a toy sale, with donated gently used toys - like a rummage sale (also moms like cleaning things out before the new ones come in for the holidays. Then use the money you make from the to buy toys to fill the shoeboxes.

You could put something in your local newspaper that the church is excepting donations to help children in other countries or you could have a raffle and use the money to buy gifts for the boxes. Try to make the items things that people need and will use, because people will be more likely to buy a ticket if they can win something they can use.

Ask the government, they`ll give you a handout...that way we`ll all contribute.

Charity begins at home....think about it.
