I'm 16 & still looking for a job, I don't know what to get, so I decided to buy gift cards. I have to buy for my mom, her BF, my dad, both my grandparents and my gf. Ofc I'm not gonna get my mom, dad and gf a gift card so I'll spend like $30 - $50 on them. I don't really like my moms BF and plus last year he didn't get me a gift.. So I'm stil debating on him. My grandparents I don't see often but I'm spending Christmas with them this year. Does it sound cheap to get them a $10 gift card? Like I said I'm not working.. So I don't have much money.

Gift Cards are NOT a good method of Gifting.

The Company get to keep the money until cashed in and it LIMITS the kind of gift the recipient can get.

BETTER: just buy a Christmas Card that has a money slot and put the bill into it. Actually get a spiffy Christmas Card with lots of sentiment expressed and put the money into it.

This way the person will be free to use the money as needed.

I don't think you should get gift cards. It's not about the money, it's about the value of an object and the importance of it to someone. I mean you can grow attached to a teddy bear... which is only 5 dollars. You can get many actual gifts that aren't over-the-top expensive. I personally think a souvenir is more valuable than a gift card.

That all depends on your budget. Your friends know if you’re rich or if you’re struggling to make ends meet. I would never expect a larger gift card from someone who really doesn’t have large finances at hand. If you ARE rich, then it’s a cheap gift, but it’s fine otherwise.

Yes, 20 bucks is better but skip the mom's BF, and just buy either gift cards ro gift card to their fave restaurants

If you don't have the money, then don't spend it. Make gifts instead - make cookies for your grandparents. Maybe buy a picture frame and put a picture of your mom and BF together. Either way, you don't need to go to such extreme lengths.

I'm not sure just what anyone can buy for $10 these days............a pack of underwear at K-Mart?

I'd try to go at least $20 , if ya can . That's enough to buy a CD or a DVD at least.
