What should go atop a Christmas tree an Angel or Star?

Please only pick one, If you use some other topper please share what it is & Then vote for one of the either Angel or Star if you had to pick.

Also feel free to link to a pic of your tree from last year, please say if it was real or fake.

I don't really have a preference. I used to use a lighted star. Once upon a time I had a lighted poinsettia bloom, and I used to have a lighted snowflake. The last few years, it has been a non-lighted angel, made from a doily. It's pretty, and suits the smaller artificial tree I have now. I used to have a huge, very realistic artificial tree, but it's gone now. I haven't had a real tree for about 17 years. Too expensive for just one season, and oh, those pine needles!

If forced to choose between angel or star, I'll pick star. I like lighted toppers.

My Vote is Stars, my reasoning is that with stars you can decorate your tree any way and with Angels you need to be a little more serious with the things you put on your tree. Like bells and cherubs, angels and classy ornaments. I have a very eclectic tree so I rotate from Lighted star tree topper to a tall blown glass tree topper that is multi color. I don't really do theme trees because I like so many different things on my tree. Blown glass ornaments , shatterproof ornaments, glass egg ornaments (sort of like Faberge) . I have hallmark collectible ornaments, Nativity ornaments and Rudolph bell ornaments . All different kinds, so there for I put up 7 trees varying in different sizes. 9 foot , 7.5 foot, 6.5 foot slim, 2- 3 footers and 2- 2.5 footers. That's only on the inside of the house. I also have 7 outdoor trees as well. They are all artificial. So it takes me some time to decorate. Sorry I went on and on but I get so excited about any topic dealing with Christmas

Star! Got the tradition from my mum and gran. Angels are beautiful but twinkling lights and a star seem to make the Christmas tree for me.

That and a traditional Father Christmas statue about .50 m tall standing underneath.

A star its religiously correct its tradition the angel has a small religious part but not the correct one and I am not even religious and I know a star is also more bright shiny and REAL but an angel just looks unnatural on a tree and has the tree literally ups its ***. Not to mention a angel looks to ostentatious and prim and prober for like snobs(don't mean to offend and sorry if I did). Maybe star angel combined but star obliviously if you have to chose.(Sorry for spelling and gramical errors.

well, in my house we have always used this really old angel that my great aunt gave my family. But i like both stars and angles, i think you have to just pick one that looks best with your tree and the ornaments.

Merry Early Early Christmas! (:

Oh.. Also we use a fake tree. We use to use real ones, but we switched to a fake tree because we enjoyed having the tree up for a longer time.

As much as I love seeing angels on top of the tree I have begun using a big bow instead. I have chosen a bow instead of an angel because I have yet to find the perfect angel to go on my tree.

Star!!

But I also like decorative toppers, we have one that looks like a shiny pear sort of...it looks pretty up there.

My parents always had an angel. I just prefer a star or simple topper. Some people do bows. I don't like them though.

PS. Real tree always!!

Angel but we have used stars. Last year my daughter made a huge bow that stared at the top and wenty down 4 ways to the grown. fake tree as the baby is little and he put everything in his mouth and did not want him to get the dried up pine needles in his mouth. But my husband hates real. I want a real one but at that time of year the money for a real one can go on a presant.

Angel...I guess because....that's how my mom brought me up. Every year we'd top the tree wiith a little angel. I never thought twice about using a star...so yeah, angel

We have a fairy on top of our tree, my mother bought her in Woolworths over fifty years ago, and as she is solid plastic she is still in very good condition, though her paper dress is a bit the worse for wear and her silver cardboard wings went missing some years ago.

Our tree was real last year, I prefer real trees as I like the smell.

I prefer stars. Ours is an old light-up star that his parents have had since he was very little, so it has sentimental value.

Our tree is fake, by the way - I've managed to kill everything from ferns to cacti, so I don't trust myself with a live tree.

I like angels, but stars tend to stay on better. I still would choose angels, though.

But i have a weird little spiral kinda thing on my small tree, that's in my room (The big one has an angel) :)

Star

I find that simple things are best. Angels are too ornate for me. But a star is something that is just right.

I don't mind, but I chose a star for my Christmas tree, but I really don't have room to put it up (tree) any more. I need a bigger home.
2010-06-18 18:23:24 UTC
Angel, totally. Our family is Christian and we have this whole Jesus set right in the middle of the tree and theres that angel at the top.

Angel.

We've had an angel on our tree forever it feels like, so I just think they are more Christmassy..thats what our family does(:

My family's always used the same angel every year. Stars just aren't our thing for some reason.

We had an African american Angel but our tree touches the roof so she doesnt fit up there anymore so we just got a star ornament and put it at the top :P

now our angel (latisha) sits on my desk :)
